Kia ora koutou,

Naumai e te whanau o te kura Muritai
Tena koutou katoa

Welcome to Luka Tokeley, Emily Diederich,Thomas Delaney and Charlea Salisbury-Metcalfe in Room 1, Milla Press in Room 5, Asher Press in Room 13 and Zac Hallam in Room 4, who have joined the Muritai School community . Our roll is currently sitting at 452.

As we approach the end of the term it is a very busy time at the school. Students are very active with their learning at present working through their learning programme and completing tasks that help them be the 'best that they can be'.

We do understand that term 3 is a busy term for children, teachers and families. It is the same every year, especially with our annual school production, which this year is the Wearable Arts and our busy arts programme . We do set the bar very high and our productions are always well received so we don't want to take any shortcuts to reduce our high standards. At the same time children are very busy with their normal learning.

These activities enable the children to work across levels and with different people and staff. It really is a challenging time but with this challenge comes growth. You can see the confidence lifting as the days go on and I am sure that the show will see the children at their very best. We have had huge support along the way, particularly from the parent community who are heavily involved in helping their children complete their own creative designs for 'The Lost Civilisation'. This support is much appreciated.

Head over to Room 15s blog to see how to make fossils in 60 minutes rather than 60 million years and have a browse through some of the amazing discoveries that were made, changing the history of science forever!

SPELL-A-THON
Firstly a huge thank you to all those students who have returned their Spell-A-Thon folder and sponsorship money.  We are tracking extremely well and will be able to provide the school with some great new resources - some tents, iPads, high interest reading books and specialised art supplies.

Just a reminder, the date for the sponsorship early bird draw is this Friday, so if you want to have a chance of winning some great prizes, please return your money by the end of school this Friday 13 September.

We would love a couple of people to help with counting money on Friday.  If you are free, please let Carole and Sue in the office know.

Thank you to the families who have responded to the community survey. The Board appreciates getting feedback on how successfully the school is meeting the needs of the students.
