FRIDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2015

Naumai e te whanau o te kura Muritai
Kia ora koutou

As we approach the last week of the term we are having a bit of a slow day at Muritai today. The final show of the production brings out mixed emotions. It is a huge effort to put on a show and three late nights with accompanying adrenalin is tough on the children making them extremely tired. But at the same time it is enormous fun and we swell with pride with what the teachers, the children and the parent helpers were able to create in the end - it was fantastic. This years show had a lot of variety as the kids were able to go with their passions and make a go of it, linking together as a team to create something from nothing. So Stomp percussion, Macbeth in 20 minutes, visual art and photography merged with our traditional wearable arts and the usual ‘corny’ linking story that helps to pull it all together saw all our children shine, including our set builders and runners. Well done to everyone involved and the audience for supporting our efforts.

Next week sees the end of term and we still have a lot to work through. We will finish the term with 430 pupils at Muritai! Next Monday and Tuesday are junior school parent conferences - thank you for signing up to these. The junior teachers have worked hard to prepare for these and I am sure you will find them informative.

We are starting to plan ahead for 2016. Some families have informed us they are moving out of Eastbourne next year - thank you for keeping us informed. If your child will not be attending Muritai next year could you please let us know. This information helps us with our budgeting and employment planning for 2016. Also, if you have a new entrant starting in 2016 please let Maureen or Jo Bentley know in the school office.

NETBALL PRIZEGIVING
Tomorrow we celebrate our Netball season at a special prizegiving. A huge congratulations to all the students who played netball this season, the school has had a great season with many achievements to be celebrated.

Firstly a very big thank you must go to all the coaches, managers and parents who helped out this season. All have dedicated a huge amount of their time to the sport, including coaching sessions, tournaments, social functions, team organisation, umpiring and braving the cold on the sidelines every week.

Muritai had a total of 9 teams entered into the competition this year, our highest number yet. All the teams have performed extremely well, and achieved many personal goals along the way. In the competitive primary and intermediate divisions the following teams won the second round of the competition and should be very proud of their achievements:
