FROM THE
PRINCIPAL
Tena koutou katoa, warm greetings to
you all
On the final day of the term I want
to take the opportunity to celebrate the exciting learning already had in
term one, and to thank you all for your support and engagement with our school
as we head into the term break.
Wahine 50th Commemorations
Our ‘Muritai Museum’ has been an
incredibly popular way for us to share our learning from Term 1! We
enjoyed hosting many visitors from far and wide over the past 10 days and have
felt immensely proud as a learning community of what we were able to achieve.
The feedback that we have had from many parents, past
students, community members and the rescuers and the survivors themselves from
the Wahine, will stay with us for a long time. The children have been able to
play a role in a significant historical event, and we as a staff are delighted
to have designed the learning activities and opportunities to enable them to do
this.
We thank you all for your support in
allowing us to host the special and rare dawn service and remembrance
commemorations here at school on Tuesday, and appreciate you making alternative
arrangements so that we could allow the near on 500 attendees to enjoy the
school library and facilities for the early morning event.
On behalf of us all, I wish you a
wonderful, safe and refreshing term break, and we look forward to welcoming you
all back to school on the 30th April, to begin the term two learning adventure.
