ARTSPLASH
Approximately 80 of our Year 4-6 students will be performing at the Michael Fowler Centre on Thursday 19 August at 5.30pm in the Artsplash Choir Festival. These children have worked hard to master the repertoire and sound fantastic. Muritai School have also been invited to model some wearable and will be performing to the accompaniment of Chilton St James, the outstanding drum corps.

If you have not yet purchased tickets for this show, please buy them as soon as possible from the school office - $4 each.

As part of the Artsplash Festival, a visual art exhibition is held in the Renouf Foyer with Muritai displaying some of our students' work. If you are in town, it is well worth your while popping in sometime next week and looking at the quality work from schools in the Greater Wellington Region. It is outstanding.

A reminder to parents with children in the Choir, there will be a rehearsal on Wednesday 18 August at the Michael Fowler Centre. Children need to meet in the school library by 8.45 as the bus will be leaving promptly at 8.55. All children will be issued with a school t-shirt to wear to the performance. They must wear black or dark coloured shorts, trousers or skirt. Please ensure t-shirts are returned to school as soon as possible after the performance.

Sports
Netball Zone Competition
What an amazing day it was at the Year 5 and 6 Zone Netball Tournament. I had so many comments about the weather and how it was very unlike Taita to have such a lovely day at this time of the year! Anyway, to netball...

We had 6 teams attend the netball and they all had a fantastic time. The schools we were competing against were: Chilton, St Peter and Paul's, Eastern Hutt and Boulcott. While Muritai did not come away with the winners cup (Eastern Hutt did), we did come away with the 'Fair Play award'.

Well done to all players, it was a spectacular event. A very special thanks to Miss Edwards who passed on her expertise to many of the players, and to the many parents who turned up to support and supervise the teams.

Results:
Yr 6 A Grade Winner: EHS (1), Runner Up: St P&P (1); Yr 6 B Grade Winner: EHS (2), Runner Up: St P&P (2); Yr 5 Grade Winner: EHS (3), Runner Up: EHS (4)
Boys Grade Winner: Boulcott Titans, Runner Up: EHS
Overall Winning School: Eastern Hutt, Runner Up: Sts Peter & Paul
Fair Play Cup: Muritai
Soccer Tournament
Last week and this Tuesday SportZone Soccer ran 3 football tournaments for our junior, middle and senior students. The students were put into teams of 5 to 8 players and played 16 games of soccer!! The students displayed a range of skills in dribbling and kicking the ball.

The umpires were impressed with the team work and positive participation they saw! Well done students! We were particularly thankful of the role that our older children (Y5-8) played in the success of the younger soccer tournament - they were great encouraging our children to be the best that they can be.

Flipperball and Waterpolo
Both teams are thriving and doing very well. They are both at the front of their grades. Well done teams!Year 7/8 Underwater Hockey
Underwater Hockey Mini League is played on 5 Saturday nights throughout the year and provides Year 7 and 8 students with an introduction to the sport of Underwater Hockey. Our Year 7/8 Underwater Hockey team recently played and did extremely well coming third in the competition. Congratulations to Finnegan Fahey who was named Most Valuable Player.
