FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Tena koutou katoa, warm greetings to you all

A final newsletter for the term to wish you a happy holiday break.  With Spring in the air, I know you’ll be as excited as I am about getting out and about in Eastbourne and beyond over the next two weeks.  School begins again on the 16th of October.

Was the discussion at your dinner table last night around the falcon attacking the kereru in the school grounds? What an incredible place we live! Yesterday we were treated to a wonderful natural display by a hungry falcon who decided a plump kereru was what he wanted for breakfast! It was an unbelievable sight to behold, and certainly the talk of the school.  Luckily we were able to clean up the leftovers before the falcon could return for morning tea.  Unfortunately none of my photos are suitable for our school facebook or the newsletter as they are quite ‘vivid’!

This afternoon in our end of term assembly we were treated to some superb entertainment by the year 5/6 syndicate and also the year 7/8  ukulele group.

We also celebrated the winners of the Photography Competition from our Art Exhibition last week. The winning photographs were presented to the photographer that won each syndicate competition.

The year 0-2 winner was Ruby Fenwick

The year 3-4 winner was Orlaith Clitheroe

The year 5-6 winner was Luke Barlow

The year 7-8 winner was Francesca Zaballa

End of term Arrivals and Farewells
We have farewelled one of our support staff this week who leaves to spend more time with her children and  family - and to continue to promote the Eastbourne Tennis Club! Michelle Fisher has been with the school for a number of years as a parent helper in classrooms as a tutor for Hooked on Books, volunteering on the Home and School committee, and as a Teacher Aide for the past 3 ½ years.  We will still see Michelle's smiling face as her and Phil are still Muritai parents, and we may rope her in for the odd bit of support staff relieving!

Teacher Trish Theobald transfers into lucky Room 8 on Fridays as Kate Salisbury begins fulltime in Room 7 next term. Kate is an experienced teacher, a Muritai parent and is living here in Eastbourne.  We look forward to welcoming Kate to the team in Term 4.

Ruth Holmes opens our final new entrant class of the year at the beginning of next term, and we are delighted to welcome Ruth back to the regular staff at school.

Thank you for your support across another fabulous term of learning and fun at Muritai school - we look forward to seeing you back next term.

Kind regards
Ngā Mihi
