Welcome back after what we hope has been a wonderful summer for your whānau.
Our team is feeling refreshed and ready to go for the 2022 year and can’t wait to welcome our learners back next Wednesday.
In regard to COVID-19 we have moved fully into the new traffic light framework for all of our school and kura activities and events this year. You will be familiar with all the health measures we will have in place and it is good to know that at Red setting, we are able to support everyone’s learning onsite.
Our 125th celebrations are now going to be held in 2023. This is an unfortunate consequence of the current conditions we have with the global pandemic. We hope to announce dates and further details closer to the end of this year. Thank you to all that have shown an interest in attending.
Please find some key reminders below on our school organisation under RED and ensure you are familiar with these prior to the return to school on Wednesday.
The biggest change for many of us is of course the mandate for staff to be wearing masks, and now students in years 4-8 to be wearing masks. We will have plenty of breaks outside, where masks are not currently required for students. Children in years 0-3 can wear masks if they want to (& can manage this safely).
For those of you with children who might be reluctant to wear a face covering, there is some helpful advice from Michigan Health https://healthblog.uofmhealth.org/childrens-health/5-ways-to-get-young-kids-to-wear-face-masks?amp, including using simple explanations about why they need to wear a face covering, adults being the role models, providing small rewards for wearing them, or letting them choose the mask.
It is really important that you chat through some of this with your child/ren in a manner that prepares them, without causing any anxiety. We appreciate your help with making this a smooth transition into a new way of working for us all.
